Where Can I Find Printable Kids Chore Charts?

Hi everyone, I just wanted to share this with you.

Here is an article I just posted on my Allowance Secrets Blog.

Enjoy!

Where can I find printable kids chore charts? Are there printable kids chore charts? Yes, there are! ;o)

Before I tell you where to find some printable kids chore charts, I’d like to address the topic of kids chores in general. I definitely believe in kids chores. I believe that kids will gain confidence and self-esteem when their assigned chores are completed.

There are the usual and ordinary chores which I call family chores. Then there are the unusual and extra-ordinary chores which I call unusual and extraordinary chores. ;o)

I believe that family chores (those usual and ordinary chores) keep a family intact. Each and every member of a family has assigned chores. I do not believe that these chores should be paid ones. Nobody is paying a parent to do these family chores! ;o) Nobody should pay a child to do these family chores either.

I do believe, on the other hand, that unusual and extra-ordinary chores should be rewarded. Children usually respond well to money payments. That’s why it is a good idea to obtain printable kids chore charts. You need a system to keep kids accountable for their assigned chores.

By the way, I believe that if a parent does an unusual or extraordinary chore for a child, a reward of some kind is due to the parent. What that reward is would be decided upon between the child and parent. It could be as simple as watching a sibling or reading to a sibling while a parent rests or does some work at home. That’s a topic for another time!

Back to printable kids chore charts. Here are a few sites:

Custom chore charts allow you to create and print out a themed chart to help remind your children of their chores. You can add your own titles to these printable kids chore charts and then customize the row and column headings. You can choose a picture for the top of your chore chart from a variety of themes. You can even create your chart in color or black and white so that your child has something to color.

There’s also My Job Chart where kids log on, do chores and earn points to save, spend or share! You set up your family, assign jobs, and set rewards. You encourage your kids to do chores by setting morning and evening tasks for each child and assigning a point value. And finally, kids set aside money to save, give to charity or buy the rewards you set up.

Check out Printable Checklists also. Here you will find age-appropriate chores for children that you can print out. Kids should have their own chore lists, so they can feel independent – it’s like their own things to do list! These printable kids chore charts (checklists) have many items that are not really “chores,” but are things that children are able to do according to their age.
