Hi everyone, I just wanted to share this with you.
Here is an article I just posted on my Allowance Secrets Blog.
Enjoy!
Your kids chore chart is as important as earning money. It really is. ;o)
Kids cannot earn money to then learn to manage their money without a kids chore chart. This chart will help your kids schedule the chores they plan to complete to earn their money to be managed. Yes, money needs to be managed. It needs to be saved, donated, invested and spent.
Your role as a parent is to coach and give your kids guidance on developing a realistic solution to their money needs through discussion and discovery. What better way to help your kids learn how to earn their own money then to help them make and follow their very own kids chore chart! ;o)
Remember, repetition is the mother of skill. When your kids have learned to keep a chores chart – adding new chores, deleting those already done – your kids will earn the money they need or want.
Keeping track of what and when chores need to be completed, over and over again, will discipline them to become self-sufficient, independent, generous and most importantly, happy, young adults. Isn’t that what we want all our kids to become? ;o)
We want our kids to be money savvy. We want them to earn their money with a kids chore chart. This chart will keep them focused on what has to be done and when. They will also learn how many chores can be scheduled on one day and how much money they need to earn to meet their goals.
Yes, I believe kids should have more than one goal.
I believe their money should be divided into six separate goals. In fact, I have created a video entitled “6 Magical Piggy Banks” which explains the six goals I have in mind. Those goals include growing, giving, learning, rainy days, investing and fun now. That discussion, however, will take place at another time. ;o)
Here is the video “The 6 Magical Piggy Banks” I just mentioned, have fun!
Having money is also a responsibility. Your kids need to learn what to do with their money. That’s why I created the video mentioned above. What is essential to understand now is why a kids chore chart is as important as earning money.
You not only need to teach your kids how to earn their own money. You also need to teach them how to have patience and how with a kids chore chart they can earn enough money for the goals they want to achieve.
Here’s my free ebook “Allowance Secrets: To Give or Not To Give” where the top 25 “kids and money” experts, family coaches, and highly successful entrepreneurs share their personal opinions and tips on whether or not to give your children an allowance. Read what they have to say about chores as well.
Keeping a kids chore chart, learning to negotiate for the right amount of money for each chore performed, will enhance and encourage your kids resourcefulness. Earning their own money to save, donate, invest and spend will encourage a sense of ownership and pride.
Encourage your kids to discover past talents and passions and put those talents and passions to work for them. Help them create a kids chore chart which gives them an opportunity to schedule their own passionate activities.
